RailCon were contracted by Tahmoor Coal (Xstrata) to provide rail installation, inspection, monitoring and maintenance services for specialised rail management systems to enable the Rail Management Group (RMG) to manage the influence imposed by longwall mining under the rail corridor at Tahmoor.

This project is a world 'first' enabling mining and rail industries to work together permitting coal to be successfully and continuously mined beneath an operating railway without impeding on the rail operating business above.

RailCon have acted as the site project manager, rail contractor and coordinator for other sub-contractors working on the project.  They have provided their management skills and rail expertise to enable the project plan to be implemented and gain staged approvals from both the rail and mining Regulators as the longwal moved toward, beneath and away from the track.

RailCon have been an integral part of the development and implementation of this very important and innovative project and an important member of the RMG to enable us to successfully complete the project .
